Competition is a major and fun part of the barbershop world that helps keep us focused on raising the bar of performing excellence. We come together in a spirit of lighthearted contest, to see who's really got top form. We cheer each other on, and once the medals have been handed out, we sing and party into the night!

Division and District Competitions

Every year we compete in our local division and (hopefully!) district or regional contests. Dozens of choruses and quartets come together to sing and compete. There are a number of judging categories, and the groups bring complete and entertaining packages.

During the week containing the 4th of July, the winners of all district chorus contests - and a few “wildcards" - gather together at International competition. There are also competitions for the best quartets from all over the world to go head to head in a three round "sing-off."

Midwinter Convention

This is an annual convention usually held someplace warm in January featuring concerts by the Barbershop Harmony Society's best quartets, youth choruses, and the senior quartet competition.
